Boat Management in Sarasota, FL

A boat left alone deteriorates faster than a boat that is used. Batteries drain, fuel ages, seals dry, water finds its way in, growth takes hold, and small faults compound quietly. 27°N keeps watch — regular visits to your vessel in its slip, systems run, faults caught early, and a clear report each time.

Everything happens in the water. There is no haul-out and no trailering in this service. The boat stays where it lives and stays ready to go, which is the whole point: when you land in Sarasota on a Thursday, the boat should start, run, and be worth taking out on Friday.

This is owner-operated oversight, not a call center with a checklist. Cpt. Roman Frapiccini walks the same boats regularly, which is how a shifting fender or a bilge cycling more than it used to gets noticed.

What's Included

  • Scheduled dockside visits at an agreed interval with a written report after each one.
  • Lines, fenders, cleats and chafe gear inspected and adjusted for tide, wind and wake.
  • Bilge and pump checks, high-water alarm test, and a look for any water where water should not be.
  • Battery state and charger operation checked; shore power connection and cords inspected.
  • Engines and generator started and run to temperature; cooling, charging and exhaust observed.
  • Air conditioning, refrigeration and pumps cycled to keep seals and impellers from drying out.
  • Canvas, covers, hatches, ports and enclosures checked and secured after every visit.
  • Exercise runs where the boat should move under load, and coordination of fuel, service and yard appointments on your behalf.

Who It's For

Seasonal owners. Northern owners whose boat lives in Florida most of the year and sees them for a handful of weeks.

Owners who travel. Long stretches away where nobody is walking the dock on your behalf.

New owners. A first larger vessel with more systems than anyone expected, and no established routine yet.

Owners between uses. Boats used sporadically, where the goal is that the boat starts the first time, every time.

How It Works

  1. 01

    Baseline the vessel

A first full walkthrough documents the boat's current condition, systems, service history and quirks, so later reports are measured against something real.

  2. 02

    Set the schedule and authority

Visit interval, what gets run each visit, storm-season protocol, your spend authorization limit, and which mechanic or yard you want called when something needs fixing.

  3. 03

    Visit, report, coordinate

Regular visits with written reports. Anything found is reported with a recommendation. Trade work is coordinated and supervised with your approval.

Vessel Sizes Handled

Vessels from roughly 24 to 65 feet in Sarasota-area marinas and nearby waters — express cruisers, downeast boats, sedan and flybridge motor yachts, catamarans and trawlers, with single or twin engines, generators and full house systems.

Boats outside the immediate area are considered depending on travel time and visit frequency. If regular attendance cannot be maintained properly, we will say so instead of stretching the schedule.

What We Need From You

  • Vessel make, model, LOA and engine configuration.
  • Marina, slip number, gate codes and dock access.
  • Keys, alarm codes and any onboard monitoring logins.
  • Written permission to board and operate the vessel's systems.
  • Preferred mechanic, yard or service provider, and a spend limit that does not require a call.
  • Insurance details and your storm-season instructions in writing.

Common Questions

No. 27N is oversight, not a service yard. We find and report issues, coordinate with the mechanic or yard you choose, and provide access and supervision. Repair work is performed by the licensed trade appropriate to it.

Most owners settle on weekly or bi-weekly visits, tightened during storm season and while the boat is unused for long stretches. The interval is set with you, not imposed.

We contact you with the forecast and the plan, check lines, fenders, canvas and hatches, and carry out the storm preparation you have authorized in advance. Written pre-authorization matters — decisions get slow when a system is already moving.
