Maritime Transport in Sarasota, FL

27°N moves vessels between marinas on the water, under their own power. A boat that needs to be in Naples on Friday, or that has been sold and must reach its new owner's dock, or that needs to move north for the season, is run there by a licensed captain the way it was designed to travel — floating.

This is a deliberate limit on what we do. There is no trailer in this business, no travel lift, no highway leg. Every mile is a nautical mile. That constraint is also the point: the vessel stays in its element, the running gear stays wet, the hull is never strapped or blocked, and the boat arrives having been observed under load for the entire trip.

Deliveries are planned around weather windows rather than deadlines. If the window closes, the boat waits somewhere safe and you are told immediately. Nothing about a schedule is worth a bad night offshore.

What's Included

  • Pre-delivery survey of the vessel's readiness: fuel, fluids, filters, belts, batteries, bilge pumps, steering and cooling.
  • Passage plan with fuel stops, bridge and lock timings, draft and air-draft checks, and identified bail-out harbors along the route.
  • Weather routing before departure and re-checked at every stop.
  • Licensed captain aboard for the full passage, with additional crew arranged when the vessel or the leg requires it.
  • Position updates to the owner at agreed intervals during the run.
  • Fuel dock stops, overnight dockage arrangements and transit logging.
  • Arrival handover: boat secured in the receiving slip, shore power and lines set, keys delivered to the named person.
  • Written delivery report covering conditions, hours run, fuel taken, and anything that behaved poorly underway.

Who It's For

Buyers and sellers. A boat sold in Sarasota and berthed in Boca Grande needs a professional to close that distance without incident.

Seasonal movers. Owners who follow the weather and want the vessel waiting at the other end rather than spending their own week delivering it.

Yards and service appointments. Getting the boat to a service marina across the bay, or collecting it afterwards, without you burning two days on it.

Brokers and dealers. Repeat movement of listed inventory between show docks and client slips, handled by one accountable captain.

How It Works

  1. 01

    Scope the passage

Origin slip, destination slip, target window, vessel specification, cruise speed and fuel range. From that we build a realistic leg plan and a quoted cost including fuel, dockage and crew.

  2. 02

    Prepare the vessel

We inspect the boat before departure and flag anything that should be corrected first. Small faults become large ones offshore, and a delivery is not the time to discover a failing impeller.

  3. 03

    Run and hand over

The captain runs the passage with weather checks at each stop and updates to you along the way. The boat is secured at the receiving dock and the written delivery report follows.

Vessel Sizes Handled

Power vessels from roughly 24 to 65 feet: center consoles, express cruisers, downeast boats, sedan and flybridge motor yachts, catamarans and trawlers. Coastal, Intracoastal and Gulf passages appropriate to the hull and its fuel range.

Routes are assessed individually. A shallow-draft boat and a deep-draft boat do not get the same plan through the same water, and a vessel without the range for an offshore leg is routed inside. Where a boat is not suited to a water passage at all, we say so plainly rather than take the job.

What We Need From You

  • Vessel make, model, LOA, draft, air draft and typical cruise speed and fuel burn.
  • Origin and destination marinas with slip numbers and dock access details.
  • Proof that the insurance policy covers delivery by a hired captain over the intended route.
  • Keys, alarm codes, and any documentation that should stay aboard.
  • Recent service history and any known fault, however small.
  • The name and number of whoever receives the vessel at the far end.

Common Questions

No. Every delivery 27N performs is made on the water, under the vessel's own power. There is no trailering, no haul-out and no over-the-road transport. If a route cannot be run safely by water, we tell you and you arrange a hauler instead.

It depends on the vessel's cruising speed, fuel range and sea state, not on road miles. A Sarasota to Fort Myers run is typically a single day. A crossing to the east coast of Florida or a run north into the Panhandle is planned in legs with weather holds built in.

Owners are welcome aboard on most deliveries and often use the trip to learn the boat. Say so when booking, so the plan accounts for you and for any guests.
